I want to compete with some of the best in the world! In order to do that I have to travel to those swimming competitions. Each travel trip can easily cost $2500 or more. I was one of the best swimmers in the country in my discipline (breaststroke) for the past 4 years since the last Olympics in 2012 where my relay team swam to Gold in the London Games, and this last Olympic year all of my swims sponsorship contracts ended, I just missed out on making the national team so I am no longer receiving financial support from any swimming entity that I was before, including USA Swimming, our USA sport federation. It took me a bit by surprise. But I'm training hard and still have room for growth and improvement and am asking for support to continue my dream and continue to train for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, but the short term goal now is to make and compete in the 2017 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary this summer! One of the best ways to prepare is to race my competitors throughout the year at the Arena Pro Swim Series swim competitions along with other out of state competitions.
